Matilda Mossman, head coach of the University of Tulsa’s women’s basketball squad, announced her retirement Thursday.
Mossman had been with the Hurricane since taking over the program in 2011 and won the 2013 Conference USA title.
“It is with extreme sadness today that I announce my retirement from coaching and the end of my reign as the Head Basketball Coach at The University of Tulsa,” said Mossman. “Coaching requires an inordinate amount of passion and energy. EVERY DAY. I would be cheating the student-athletes in this program to continue, as I find it harder and harder to maintain that level of enthusiasm on an everyday basis.”
As head coach, Mossman put up a 119-176 record and is the 10th coach in program history.
