Sally money, state official’s retirement, Mental Samurai, Tarrant drama: Down in Alabama

From today’s Down in Alabama podcast:

Alabama native Scott Perry has been enjoying success on the Fox game show “Mental Samurai.”

Perry’s from Maplesville, and he’s also lived in Bessemer, Hoover and Birmingham.

Nowadays he lives in California and married his cat on Instagram.

Now, at first I was a little nervous about looking into that story. But it turns out he just did a fake commitment ceremony hyped on social media in order to raise some money for an animal shelter in L.A.

(That’s Los Angeles, not Lower Alabama.)

On today’s news briefing we talk more about Perry’s performance on “Mental Samurai.” We also talk about money for Baldwin County for Hurricane Sally clean-up, Alabama Finance Director Kelly Butler’s retirement and drama in Tarrant.
