ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Do you hear those jingle bells? A Roanoke retirement community is celebrating “Christmas in July” with a Pet Parade on Saturday benefiting the Roanoke Valley SPCA!

The fundraiser will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 17 at the Our Lady of the Valley Retirement Community in Roanoke, with the parade starting at 10:45 a.m.

Instead of an entry fee, participants are asked to donate an item from the SPCA’s wish list, like dog or cat food, litter, Ziploc bags, towels, or cleaner.

There will be light refreshments available, as well as prizes for the “best dressed pet” and “best pet-owner look-alikes.”

If you want to enter your pet — which must be leashed or crated — call (540) 345-5111.
