Police said a 17-year-old boy was driving a vehicle when he struck and killed the woman. Officers said the crash remains an active investigation.
The deadly accident happened Friday evening on Northfork Drive and Bagnoli Rose Lane.
Loved ones identified the woman as 74-year-old Andrea Longoria. They described her as a devoted wife, supportive mother, and a fun grandmother. She spent her life in service to others as an educator with Pasadena ISD and worked to build her church community at St. Luke’s the Evangelist Catholic Church in Sagemont.
“Whatever comes out of this situation, she would definitely point to forgiveness,” said her oldest daughter Amy Waltz. “To love and to be the light. Be of good will and be of good message. That’s who she is. That’s who she will be in all of us.”
Longoria’s family has already pleaded with city leaders in Pearland, calling for changes along the roadway like speed bumps, flashing crosswalks, and more stop signs.
Pasadena ISD released a statement to ABC13 about Mrs. Longoria:
“Pasadena ISD is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of longtime dedicated teacher and counselor, Andrea Longoria. Prior to retirement in 2011, Mrs. Longoria was a Guidance Counselor at J. Frank Dobie High School for 19 years. She will always be remembered for her steadfast dedication to the students of Pasadena ISD. Our love and prayers are with the Longoria Family during this difficult time.”
