MONTGOMERY COUNTY — After 30 years of service at Public Health Dayton & Montgomery County, Jeff Cooper will retire at the end of the year. Cooper has been the Montgomery County Health Commissioner since 2015.
In addition to serving as Health Commissioner, Cooper spent seven years as the Assistant to the Health Commissioner and five years as Coordinator of the Emergency Preparedness. He also worked for the Regional Air Pollution Control Agency.

“I am proud to have been associated with such a dedicated staff and will greatly miss seeing the good work they do every day. Montgomery County residents should feel confident in the ability of our staff to continue to make Montgomery County a healthy, safe and thriving community,” Cooper said in a statement.
Michael Sims, President of the Montgomery County Board of Health commended Cooper’s service.
“His dedication and exemplary service during the COVID-19 pandemic is something that all Montgomery County residents have benefitted from,” Sims said.
The process to fire the next Health Commissioner will begin immediately.
