Normally at this time of year, Scott Panchik would be spending time reflecting on the recent season, on writing down his strengths and weaknesses, and on coming up with a plan to be even better at next year’s CrossFit Games.
This year, though, is different.
After announcing he would retire from the sport after the 2021 CrossFit Games, the 33-year-old, nine-time Games competitor, admits he has been feeling a void.
“It has been a big adjustment,” said Panchik, who is also dealing with the additional challenge of a persistent knee injury.
“Coming home from the CrossFit Games is always difficult, because there’s this period where your body needs rest, but it’s also very much used to going in and working out… and I have always felt better moving,” he said.
