A Broken Arrow assisted living community is among one of the first in the country to have its residents and staff almost fully vaccinated at one time.
The residents of the Silver Arrow Estates Retirement living community in Broken Arrow are getting their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine brought right to their doors on Tuesday morning.
General manager Bobby Long said their three local facilities are some of the first to be vaccinated as a whole in one location like this and he could not be more grateful. He says about 115 out of 123 residents, caregivers, and staff will get their shot today from Passport Health on-site and then in a month receive their second dose.
“The residents are very excited, they just want their time slot to hurry and be here,” Long said. “We can’t see their whole face, but we can see the excitement in their eyes and hear it in their voice as well.”
He said the pandemic has been difficult for the residents since they have to almost always stay secluded in their rooms to stay safe, so this vaccine day is a light at the end of the tunnel.
