HIS ROOTS MIGHT HAVE BEEN IN TEXAS, BUT HIS HEART WAS IN OKLAHOMA AND AT OKLAHOMA STATE FOR HIS UNDERGRAD HIS REASON. HE LOVED THE CAMPUS AND THE PELEOPIS H LEADERSHIP AT OSU STARTED EARLY AS FRESHMAN CLASS VICE PREDESI ACCORDING TO MEMBERS OF HIS TEAM BURNS WOULD REGULARLY TELL STUDENTS FIND YOUR PASSION AND YOU WILL BE HAPPY. HIS PASSION WAS SERVICE, AND HE SERVED OSU HAPPILY FOR 13 YEARS AS PRESIDENT. HIS TENURE BROUGHT ABOUT RECORD-BREAKING FUNDRAISING TOTALING 2.2 BILLION DOLLARS. HE RESHAPED THE CAMPUS BY CONSTRUCTING 28 NEW BUILDINGS AND MANY MAJOR RENOVATIONS. SWA COMMITTED TO DIVERSITY BEING ONE OF ONLY SENEV UNIVERSITIES IN THE COURYNT TO WIN THE HIGHER EDUCATNIO EXCELLENCE IN DIVERSITY AWARD NINE YEARS IN A RO W.
