MAYFIELD, Ohio — Mayor Brenda Bodnar has announced that Scott Sipos, a Mayfield Service Department employee since 1993 and a current foreman within the department, will become its new director following the April 17 retirement of Director Doug Metzung.
Sipos will be formally sworn in during Village Council’s 7 p.m. meeting on April 19. Beginning as a part-time employee, Sipos worked for many years on the department’s road crew, then switched to the lands and buildings crew, becoming its foreman in 2012.
Bodnar said Sipos is familiar with all aspects of the service department’s operation. “It was clear during his interview that Scott has much passion for and dedication to the village,” Bodnar stated, in a release. “He presented a clear and comprehensive vision for the future of the service department, and I am confident that his years of working there have prepared him for the challenge.
“I congratulate him on this promotion and I look forward to working with him to continue the great service we provide to the residents of Mayfield Village.”
Sipos is a 1992 graduate of Mayfield High School. He lives in the village with wife, Erin, and their three children.
Metzung has been the village’s service director for 25 years. When asked for comment about Metzung’s work, Bodnar said, “Over his many years of leadership in Mayfield Village, Doug Metzung has deftly grown our service department and expanded its role in providing the services and amenities we offer. Although he leaves the department in good hands, we will truly miss Doug’s team spirit and friendly smile and, of course, his commitment to Mayfield Village.”
